The Science Behind Tai Chi Breathing

Does How We Breathe Really Make a Difference?

As we practice our taichi, we breathe through the nose, and the tongue lightly touches the roof of the mouth behind the upper teeth. We use the same technique inQiGong practice. (Of course, if you can't breathe through the nose, you should breathe any way you can.)

A new book by journalist James Nestor reviews the latest research on breathing through the nose and reveals how we breathe can change how we live. Nestor recently talked about the power of the breath to reduce stress and build the immune system onFresh Air.
